Pity the bread waiters at London Fashion Week. I’ve seen disdain and I’ve seen hatred, but never so pungent a fusion of the two being beamed, en masse, at one man and his basket.
Fashion Week, generally, is a pretty Arctic affair. In The September Issue, American Vogue editor Anna Wintour states with touching conviction: “People [...]

For the second season running, Burberry showed its Prorsum collection at the end of London fashion week. It’s quite fun, all things considered — all the big editors come out, Rachel Zoe turns up, and a bit of quality and excitement gets injected into proceedings. And people harass Christopher Bailey, too. Seriously, the whole of [...]

The celebrated English fashion designer Wayne Hemingway knows who won’t be interested in his new summer festival: the teenager “who’s out on the lash, who wants to escape their parents and get plastered and leaves a load of empty tins at their ripped tent”.
Instead it will be for people who want style and glamour, those [...]

Twiggy has criticised designers for continuing to use real fur at London Fashion Week.
The model, who fronts Marks and Spencer’s advertising campaigns, said she was disappointed in designers that persisted in using fur from animals kept in ‘terrible and inhumane conditions’.
She called using 20 foxes or 80 mink to make a single coat ‘intolerably cruel’.

Our London Fashion Week blog: Day Three
Posted by Lucky on Feb 23, 2010

It was a soggy Sunday, but our spirits didn’t stay damp for long thanks to a breakfast-time pick-me-up in the form of the Betty Jackson collection. Always a YOU favourite, this season Betty showed leather (note to selves: leather is next season’s investment buy) and over-sized coats. We particularly loved the A-line navy skirts and [...]

Betty Jackson was in what she called ‘workwear’ mode, with military-look jackets with ‘battle-dress’ pockets; baggy, drop-crotch trousers; and oversized T-shirts and tops, accessorized with chunky clogs, stack-heel booties and sling-back brogues.
Peasant scarves added to the workaday feel. Lightweight denim was used for long, over-shirts and loose tunics, worn with skinny jeans, or, conversely, black [...]

TWENTY-five shades of black were just about enough for fashion guru John Rocha to hammer home the impact of single-colour dressing.
His exciting and intuitive use of textures and fabrics meant the London Fashion Week crowd weren’t left gloomy.
Tattered georgette ruffles and shredded fabrics with rough salvages created stunning three-dimensional drama on the catwalk at Somerset [...]

Posted by Lucky on Feb 22, 2010

The Baftas turned into a triumph for British fashion designers tonight, with the red carpet becoming an extension of the London catwalk. A buoyant British fashion scene, and a desire to pay red carpet tribute to combined to make the Baftas a near-landslide for British fashion.

Sarah Brown, who wore Erdem to open London Fashion Week, is just one of his many high-profile fans. The rising star of British design talks to Roya Nikkhah
Posted by Lucky on Feb 22, 2010

Erdem is so busy putting the finishing touches to a hand-embroidered cashmere-and-silk poncho for tomorrow’s catwalk show that he is oblivious to having missed one of London Fashion Week’s most hotly anticipated moments: what the Prime Minister’s wife would wear to open the biggest event in Britain’s fashion calendar.
When I tell him that, in fact, [...]
