Miss Bristol 2010 Amy Willerton aims to organise a fashion show in the city, to help raise money for Variety Club Children’s Charity.
Amy, from Westbury on Trym, is organising the ‘Bristol Rocks Fashion’ event to help support the work that the charity does for children across the country, and also to celebrate Bristol’s diverse fashion culture.
Amy said, ‘As Miss Bristol, I wish to produce a show that celebrates the whole of Bristol’s culture, by uniting both the funky urban style fashions from local designers based in the Stokes Croft/Gloucester Road area and the elegant high fashion trends of Clifton.
‘I’m extremely passionate about the cause of the show – to raise money for the Variety Club Children’s Charity, especially since my younger brother suffers from a chromosomal disorder and severe autism and has from benefited the fantastic work of charities such as these that give support to children in the most need. 100% of money raised will go to The Variety Club.’
Amy, 17, has just finished her A level exams, and will organise the charity event in between her duties as Miss Bristol. She is also preparing to compete in the Miss England grand finals this summer.
She is sponsored by Stages Hair Design who organised the Miss Bristol pageant at The Grand hotel in March. Stages’ Managing Director Richard Hillier said ‘We are impressed how Amy has taken to her role of Miss Bristol and all the hard work that she is doing for the city.
‘She is proving to be a great ambassador for Bristol and in doing so confirms both our beliefs and those of Miss England that modern beauty pageants are now about brains as well as beauty. I just hope the citizens of Bristol give her full support in what she is trying to achieve. As MD of Stages I pledge that our company will give our full support to her in her mission.’
