Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) January 14, 2010 — New York based fashion house founder and director, Tory Burch, announced that Justin Giunta was recently taken on as Design Director of Jewelry for the Tory Burch brand. Mr. Giunta is an acclaimed designer and jeweler. His own jewelry brands, Subversive Jewelry and Deviated by Justin Giunta draw on his aesthetic overload theory of fashion – or as he puts it: “more is more.” Justin will bring new life and energy to the already wildly successful Tory Burch line. These two leaders in the fashion industry have a strikingly similar story. Both are tremendous talents in their field, both worked very hard to get to where they are and both share the allusive gift of – luck.
Tory Burch, fashion designer and philanthropist, is very lucky. Well, if lucky means what PR Guru, David Fishof says it is in a YouTube interview with TheWebShow: “Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.” – So, yes Tory Burch is very lucky indeed. First, the Preparation. Her degree from University of Pennsylvania was followed by hard work at Zoran, Harper’s Bazaar, Vera Wang and even Ralph Lauren. But it wasn’t until 2004 that she launched her own fashion label. That’s when her luck started. Tory Burch didn’t climb to fame; she was pulled into it with one award and endorsement after another. The list starts with Oprah Winfrey when she cooed over Tory’s brand on The Oprah Winfrey Show in April 2005. That same year Burch received the “Rising Star Award” from the Fashion Group International for Best New Retail Concept. In 2007 Tory Burch received an award from the Accessories Council of Excellence and in 2008 she landed the CFDA’s Accessories Designer of the Year Award – edging out fashion icons Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors for first place. Only six years after starting the engine of her new brand Ms. Burch is ahead and in front of the race. With her line being featured in over 450 specialty department and select stores worldwide, Tory Burch is very lucky – Mr. Fishof would have to agree.
At 9:02 AM on January 8, 2010 Tory Burch had this tweet to share with her 15,000+ followers: “So excited about the newest member of our design team. Justin Giunta!” That’s Justin Giunta of Subversive Jewelry fame, Deviated by Justin Giunta, and now Design Director of Jewelry for the Tory Burch label. So, Tory Burch just announced more good luck. Not so fast Tory – Justin doesn’t take a second place on the lucky list. He too put in his time putting in the hard work to get lucky. He’s a graduate of Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Mellon Institute (The alma mater of Andy Warhol!) – class of 2001; since then – A fellowship in Yale. However, it was not until 2003 that Justin established his first brand: Subversive Jewelry.
Now for his lucky stuff. In 2007 Giunta was nominated as a finalist in the CFDA/Vogue fashion fund, twice nominated for the CFDA Emerging Designer Talent in Accessories, winner of the Prize for Accessories from the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation for Accessories Design in 2008 and most recently the winner of the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design in 2009. Since then, he has announced a joint project with acclaimed ceramic artist Mae Mougin. Many of his stunning, show-stopping jewelry pieces have adorned Hollywood’s who’s who. Justin Giunta has developed unique pieces for the runway shows of J Mandel, DKNY, Perry Ellis, Trovata, Alexander Wang, and now Tory Burch. Lucky guy.
