Choo and Ugg team for new shoe line, Neiman’s names new fashion director

It isn’t a duo you’d think to pair: Jimmy Choo and Ugg Australia. The racy, trip-worthy stiletto label and humble snow-boot line are teaming up to produce a collection of women’s sheepskin footwear, priced around $700 to $1,000 a pair. The line, due in October, will include five styles in multiple color selections, and will be available at a limited number of department stores and at Jimmy Choo boutiques, including the Highland Park Village outpost.
Neiman Marcus has just named Nickelson Wooster as new men’s fashion director. Wooster’s retail rap includes Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Polo and Calvin Klein.
We’re sad to report that Needless Necessities, a five-years’-standing North Henderson Avenue interiors boutique, is closing. All furnishings (including great tabletops and chairs) are marked down 40 percent. Owner Don Hatfield says he plans to close shop as soon as all merchandise is sold.
The second annual Dallas Fashion & Art party is from 7 to 11 p.m. Thursday at 4 Dog Studio (150 Howell St., 214-749-5715). Local designers and artists will display work that reflects this year’s theme: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Celeb-chef Blythe Beck kicks off the evening with a signature treat, and DJ Tony Fair provides the tunes. A $10 at-the-door donation is suggested to benefit Family Gateway and the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease.
Teen girls’ fashion bible just got tech-savvy – Teen Vogue’s Haute Spot iPhone app allows readers to scroll through clothing and accessories chosen by editors in the glossy pub’s Web fashion closet and create their own look-books. With the $1.99 app, girls can even save, share or buy favorite pieces. Vogue is hoping the app kicks off a new trend of “Social Mobile Shopping (SMS).”
The Clutts Agency (4528 McKinney Ave., 214-761-1400), which reps actors, models and stylists, has moved from its Fashion Industry Gallery digs to a larger space on McKinney Avenue, adjacent to Chuy’s. They now have twice the space. And, owner John Clutts happily reports, parking is free.
University of North Texas assistant professor of fashion design Li-Fen Anny Chang (right) won first place statewide and an honorable mention at the national level in the Make It With Wool competition. Chang, whose rectangular wool-patch evening dress impressed judges, has won multiple fashion design awards, and her work has been exhibited in numerous venues, including the Queen Sirikit Peacock Standards of Thai Silk Exhibition in Bangkok.
