Ashley Southerland, a 23-year-old concert marketing intern, was on her way up to the C3 offices for a day of work when I caught a flash of her hipster faux leather red jacket she picked up at H&M in Washington, D.C. The rest of her ensemble was just as cute; a flouncy, gray Lycra top from Banana Republic accented with a necklace from Feathers, BDG skinny jeans and super-soft suede boots from Urban Outfitters.
Street Cam: How do you define your signature style?
Southerland: Downtown casual. I like to dress funky but low-key.
when it comes to fashion, what is most important to you?
Comfort. I see so many of my friends wearing short, tight clothes and they just look uncomfortable. I don’t even wear heels! I’m already 5-foot-9, so heels would have me towering over people anyway.
What are your go-to accessories?
I love to wear stacks of black bangles from Tesoros along with my Michael Kors watch.
Who are your style icons?
Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, the Olsens and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Any particular holiday items on your wish list?
There is an awesome python bag that I want from Shopbop, but I’m also into faux fur vests and booties.
