Inside the Microsoft Store at Scottsdale Fashion Square

Along with the official release of Windows 7 today comes news of Microsoft’s grand opening of its first Microsoft Store. We’ve been following the evolution of the Microsoft Store for a while now but today we get a peak into the inner workings of it.
From the video below you can see the Apple influence. Long, wide tables featuring tons of laptops, employees standing around with tags hanging around their necks, the answer bar (a.k.a Genius Bar), and more.
What I found most interesting about the video, though, is where the Windows phones were placed and how few of them there were. Contrast that to the tons of iPhones that greet you when you walk into the Apple Store. As the camera man says on the video, the store is designed around the laptops.
By the way, Microsoft is also in the bistro business, just in case that whole “windows” things falls through.
