NYC Prep episode 6: Learning the ropes of the fashion world

It’s fashion week and that means it’s time for the offspring of the rich and fabulous to use their parents’ money to pretend they’re just as cool.
Earlier this season, PC vowed to make Taylor his new charity case because she seemed like she needed a friend. Wait – since when is PC altruistic? Should someone tell him that doesn’t count toward community service hours?
Step one in project Taylor: Take her to a fashion show to school her in the ‘proper etiquette’ of fabulosity.
So Taylor and her boy toy Cole, who is actually more like a sarcastic puppy, join PC and his friend Cat at the Jill Stuart show.
The cool kids make their grand entrance, complete with two pairs of dark shades and one black beret. I would start the threat countdown but it’s too late. Code red.
PC is horrified when Taylor flips out over seeing Amanda Bynes, and, in the most affected voice he can muster, says, “Yaa, let’s all be like super cool and not give a shit if we see famous people though, cuz it makes us look cooler.”
Social climbers take note. PC is pissed that Taylor is not following fashion week “protocol.” Apparently they hand out a poseur how-to pamphlet at the door.
PC and Cat continue to wear their sunglasses indoors, which Taylor thinks is stupid (the first thing out of her mouth I can respect), but then she sees Paris Hilton wearing them and decides it’s cool after all.
Ahh, so close!
During the show, the puppy discusses the finer points of the runway, such as “that girl is tall,” “she has a mean face,” “ooh, I like purple,” and “that was a Mary Poppins hat.”
But the day wasn’t a total waste. PC’s work is paying off.
“She seems a little less retarded today,” he says of Taylor as he saunters out of the tent.
Cole, on the other hand…
Meanwhile, Sebastian invites Kelli to the Erin Fetherston show to try to get in her pants, now that Taylor’s are carefully guarded by watch dog Cole.
Oh hell no, Kelli is not playing backup to Taylor!
While Frenchie is totally confounded by the point of fashion, and is resigned to looking around confused for the remainder of the episode, Kelli redeems herself tenfold by schooling PC in the art of not being a complete moron.
The two run into each other outside the show and PC uses the opportunity to sort of apologize for calling her immature at Camille’s dinner party, but mostly to tell her he knows they’ll never be friends.
Kelli, who can’t believe how childish he’s being, says she doesn’t have time for such a dumb conversation and that, “I feel like this is more like I’m fighting with, like, a chick!”
